Once, long ago, 3 of said, "let's all make new cahracters and meet in Pre and do this all again" so we did, and when we met in Pre we were all on Warriors. So I said "BRB" deleteed the Warrior and rolled a Necro. That is the extent of my PvE Warrioring in a little more than 2 years in GW, in fact in that time I've only ever taken 1 (one) PvE character to lvl 20, a Ranger.
I do have a PvP Only Warrior though.

yes i do have a warrior.
as for all the arguments about warriors vs assassins vs dervishes: here's the definitive answer:
if you are bad, your warrior will be bad, and you'll play the assassin and dervish to greater effect.
if you are good, your warrior will be >>>>>> your assassin and dervish.
----
the assassin is made so bad players can compete, and good players can play one while doing their programming homework. the dervish is nothing more than a mending wammo's wet dream.

I have a warrior, and this thread is hilarious. I love the uniformed people hating on warriors who get shot down and don't even respond.

Ye I'm surprised at all this hate...
I personally think many of the classes are cool. Assassins freegin rule. I'm probably going to start one after I finish working on my new necro.
But my warrior is my main character and I love it too. A lot of the armor looks awesome, they're big, and have cool looking weapons. They're pretty vital to PUGS too.
I think people who say that warriors are newbie characters are seriously uninformed, or they're just jealous that they never had the time to make a warrior or sucked at playing one when they made one. There's a huge difference between playing a warrior for 1 month, and playing one for a year, just like for any other profession.

Well I can do everything in the game without warriors. Its funny that a lot of people that post that they like playing warriors also say that they find mesmers confusing lol.
It takes far more skill to play mesmer then any other class, and Sins are the most skillful melee class.
Really, what I hate most about warriors is that they are epic boring. Click on target, press Power Attack. Click on next target, press Power attack. Oh noes enchant drain! Press mending. Oh noes Im on 25% health. Frenzy heal sig.
I was playing RA earlier and a warrior clicked on frenzy inside my savannah heat and just stood there attacking our monk. He died in 2 or 3 seconds.

There are very few IW mesmers with hammers compared to the number of frenzy warriors that I get to pwn daily in RA. It should be simple really, see an elly? Dont use frenzy. See an AoE spell effect? Dont stand in it and use frenzy.
And frenzying in a savannah heat isnt the same as a crap build. I could run an IW hammer mes for fun if I wanted, but I still wouldnt stand still in AoE.
Heroes and hench are better at kiting then the majority of warriors.

Wow. There is seriously no reason for this flame fight. Bad players exist in all professions.
Warriors may have the most "newbies" in them, but that's because the Warrior is a universally popular class - meaning not just in Guild Wars. I'm very confident you'll find the sword-and-board fighter class the most popular in nearly every RPG.

Well, the medal for the class in RA least likely to have or remember to use a res sig...
Warriors.
This isnt flaming. Its a clear observation of how people play the game. There are some very good (hammer) warriors in arenas too, but they are vastly outnumbered, and far more then in any other class, by people that are bad at the proffesion. This in turn gives warriors a bad name.
Also whenever I used to pug and I got a warrior, they were ALWAYS a tank. Your in a team with 2 or 3 monks, you dont need survival skills, you need to do damage.

By "clear observation" I'm assuming the observation and game experience of a large amount of people. Just because you run
That said my experience has been rather mixed. I do run into a lot of bad warriors, but I see so many bad players in other professions that class no longer matters.

The only warriors that I have seen that play it right are ones in my HA groups or from my alliance for HM. There are people bad at every class yes, but in simple terms, there are far less monks with mending then there are warriors.

Maybe because you run into like 10 times as many warriors than monks while pugging ?

In a PvP aspect this is mostly true, however I prefer Assassin in PvE for the fact that assassin pve skills make them more effecient damage dealers than comparable warriors imo (speaking of crit agility of course, infinitely maintainable +armor and IAS? Sign me up!).
That being said keep in mind that warriors have a lot more options as far as what they can do to an enemy, I still maintain that Earth Shaker is one of the most devestating things a warrior can do, nobody can match that kind of AoE KD (not to mention hammers pack a wicked punch in the first place).
As far as dervs they're what you do instead of playing W/Mo, lots of enchantments and a primary att that actually works with the enchanting. I enjoy them as well they're an interesting bunch.

I've played with many PvE assassins in my parties... and most of them were horrible. I think it takes skill, a good build and an appropriate situation to be a good assassin in PvE. In the whole time I played the game, and in all the pugs i've been in, I think I came across 2 decent assassins.
Warriors are more versatile, and I think they're easier to play in PvE.
I really don't think sins are better for PvE. I've never played one yet personally, but from what I've seen, warrior just seems to fit more situations. For PvP, I prefer sin because it is just more fun to play.

Sins are FAR better for PVE. Moebius and death blossom are better then the whole line of skills warriors have. They do just about everything better then warriors except for knockdown. No one ever wants sins or mesmers in their party though, thats why people assume that warriors are better because its easier to find a group.

Ive tried E/A with the following bar in H/H:
Asuran Scan
Glimmering Mark
Fox Strike
Wild Strike
Nine Tail Strike
Whirlwind
Tenais Wind
Conjure Lightning
126 damage per second over 5 seconds, 94 damage per second over 30 seconds. Sins would be even more powerful.
